The STARS ACADEMY STORY

STARS Academy was born from the vision of David Wren, who has spent over 25 years coaching youth soccer across the U.S. After seeing the traditional model prioritize winning over player growth, he knew something had to change. Instead of chasing trophies early, we flipped the script—focusing on developing younger, newer players with a full, individualized pathway.

With over 70 years of combined coaching experience, we measure what others don’t—26 detailed metrics that ensure each player is seen, nurtured, and empowered. We’re not just leveling the field—we’re redefining it, proving that when we prioritize development, long-term success naturally follows.

At STARS Academy, our players become well-rounded athletes, equipped with both the technical skill and physical readiness to meet every tactical demand of the game. By addressing each aspect—from weaker foot development to physical endurance—we ensure they can execute under pressure, adapt to strategies, and thrive in any position. Our holistic approach ensures they’re ready for whatever challenges the game brings.

We believe that informed parents are vital partners in player growth. Every four months, evaluations occur, and progress is gathered and mapped out to show where improvement has been made—both in specific areas and overall. This allows parents to compare their child’s progress within the program. With that insight, we pinpoint areas of weakness and offer supplemental, focused training to help each player improve exactly where they need it.
